In February 2023, Gwyneth March contacted Blantyre Hillwalking Club to offer a collection of her late father, Graham Hutson’s hillwalking equipment—including books, rucksacks, ropes, ice axes, crampons, boots, and other useful items—as the family prepared to clear the Hamilton home ahead of her elderly mother’s move.

A convenient date was arranged, and several boxes of hillwalking gear were collected—enough to fill an entire estate car.

The items were then sorted and photographed before being offered for sale to club members. The sale raised £350, to which the club added a further £150, and the Search and Rescue Dog Association Scotland (SARDA) was chosen as the beneficiary.

On 20th January 2024, during a well-attended club bus trip to Arrochar, members gathered in Ben Arthur’s Bothy pub after their walks to present a £500 cheque to Moira Weatherstone, the local SARDA dog handler attached to the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team.
